Security Certified Program(SCP)

SCP is a matured certification program in the world of information security. They have been updating the syllabus very often, which is how security courses are expected to be. They have three certifications to validate the security skills of professionals. SCP certifications has been recognized by the US Department of Defense (DoD) and are now a requirement according to DoD 8570.1.

Security Certified Network Specialist (SCNS)

SCNS is considered as the first stage (entry-level) in the three stage path of the certification tree in SCP. If the professional gets trained and pass the Tactical Perimeter Defense (TPD) exam they would attain the SCNS qualification and the certificate to prove it. TPD is designed to analyze and validate the foundational InfoSec skill sets required for a security professional in any security profession. According to SCP, Security+ would help to lay the foundation before proceeding to SCNS, though it is not mandatory to have Security+ before SCNS.

Security Certified Network Professional (SCNP)

SCNP is the second stage (entry- to mid-level) in the three-stage professional security certification. It is listed as one of the requirements in the DoD 8570.1. The security professional has to pass Strategic Infrastructure Security (SIS) exam to attain SCNP certification. This certification proves that the security profession has attained skills that include, but are not limited to: Crypto, Hardening Linux, Hardening Windows, Ethical Hacking, Internet and World Wide Web (WWW) security, Risk Analysis, Creating a Security Policy and Packet Signatures Analysis.
